February 2025
Welcome Travelers!
Where has the year gone? It’s already February, and it feels like I just finished putting all the holiday decorations away! Our weather has been a bit of a rollercoaster lately, and it’s currently snowing lightly as I write this. So beautiful! Tomorrow it will be back into the 40’s again and the snow will be gone. And the whole cycle will repeat again in 2 days.
Beaches remain my happy place- no matter the weather. The colder and windier the day, the more isolated you are on the beach. I enjoy spending time walking along the water and listening to the sound of the waves. You really need to hear slushy waves to appreciate them. Our dog, Crocker, also enjoys the beach, chasing the ball to pounce on it and get his face full of sand. He loves all the smells as well. Seaweed, shells and driftwood are his personal favorites.
I truly enjoy our winters here on the beautiful Cape. The traffic is non-existent, and the friendly Cape Cod drivers are always ready to let you make that difficult left turn. There are still many great restaurants open year-round, great coffee spots, excellent live theatre and music happening. There is truly something for everyone here.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
The Cape Cod Museum of Art features exhibits by local artists, classes on various dates throughout the winter, and a concert series with shows taking place every Sunday between January and April.
Salt Pond Visitor Center is Cape Cod National Seashore's year-round visitor orientation facility. Located in Eastham, the center has a theater, America's National Parks store, museum, and restrooms. The seashore's award-winning orientation movie, Standing Bold, plays throughout the day, and other films show on rotation. Films have open captions and assistive listening.
Open every Thursday through Monday in the winter, Truro Vinyards is a great way to spend a chilly winter afternoon. They have an on-site distillery called South Hollow Spirits, so you don’t have to stick to the wine on a cold day.
Truro Vineyards sits in a restored 1830s farmhouse, helping you experience a bit of history during your visit, as well. Don’t miss their North Truro location when on Cape Cod in the winter.
See you soon here at the Inn on Main!
